It was just an ordinary day at work, when my coworker mentioned that her parents had a couple of puppies in their backyard in DTLA that they needed to find homes for. Being an animal lover, I knew I had to act fast.
When I arrived at their backyard, I was horrified by what I saw. Both puppies were covered in ticks and fleas. They were malnourished and their coats were matted and dirty. I knew that they needed help, and I knew that I had to take them home with me.
The moment I held those puppies in my arms, I knew that my life would never be the same. They were sisters, from two different litters, but they were both in need of love and care. I knew that I had to do everything in my power to give them the best possible life.
I took them to the vet and got them treated for their fleas and ticks. I fed them nutritious food and gave them lots of love and attention. I groomed them and took them on walks. I even enrolled them in obedience training.
As the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months, I watched in amazement as those two puppies transformed before my eyes. They grew into healthy, happy, and well-behaved dogs. I was so proud of them, and so grateful to have them in my life. Sometimes I tell my wife I love them more than her because they kiss me every day I get home :)
Rescuing those two puppies from that backyard in DTLA was one of the best decisions I've ever made. It's been a year now since I saved them, and they continue to bring me joy and love every single day. I am so thankful for the opportunity to give them a better life. And I hope that this story inspires others to open their hearts and homes to animals in need.
